I have a brief meeting this morning. I want you to continue on our task for this week and watch the video below. Find three photos that you wish to frame or border and apply the techniques shown on your images. Our yearbook deadline is just 20 days away and we still have much work to do. We still need photographs of the following: CTE action shots of kids demonstrating what they're doing in their shops - (not posed if possible), Intramural hockey and basketball pictures, Class Officers and Class Moderators, and candid shots of both students and faculty.
We'll continue working on image manipulation skills in Photoshop this week. If you missed days last week, you need to make up the basics we worked on last week. The list below has links to Atomic Learning videos for those of you that need a quick refresher. Practice images can be found in the file sharing section of our class page. Those skills from last week included:
This week we'll be working on these skills:
We also hit the midway point of the third quarter this week. Those of you who have been neglecting to document the work you're doing still have time to bring up grades by doing complete journal entries for the remaining weeks. Make sure that you're adding images or screen captures of the work that you're writing about. We are going to continue working on our self portraits in Illustrator over the next two weeks. In addition to that ongoing project, we are going to work a bit in Adobe Photoshop on some skills we need to produce our yearbook and to prepare our seniors for the NOCTI assessment that will occur in early March.
Our Photoshop goals for this week include the following manipulative skills:
Most of you are trying to stay current with your journals - if you're working on a personal or class project please make note of it in your journal. I've tried to model what I'm looking for in my personal learning journal. If you're struggling with a part of a project check out my journal and I've tried to address parts that might be tricky in those daily posts. Today's drawing day project is a 2 point perspective drawing - this video has the basic elements you'll need to complete this project. Happy National Career and Technical Education Week! There are several events we need to photograph this week for the yearbook - here is the rough schedule:
Monday - finish scheduled group portraits in CTE classes Tuesday - TechBowl - 9:30 AM - off campus Food Fight Rollout - Auditorium Wednesday - NHS/NTHS Induction Ceremony Our in-class plan for the week is to finish up the tracing project that seems to have stumped many of you. If you've gone through the exercises you have the mechanics - now you need to work on the composition or breaking it down into smaller parts. We'll be working with these files to help us understand the concepts involved in putting the shapes together. We'll also be working on different ways to color your artwork once the paths are created. Most of you are trying to stay current with your journals - if you're working on a personal or class project please make note of it in your journal. I've tried to model what I'm looking for in my personal learning journal. If you're struggling with a part of a project check out my journal and I've tried to address parts that might be tricky in those daily posts. Some of you are doing great work with your journals - these are going to be great ways to demonstrate what you are learning and you need to stay focused on these. I have put comments on those that I can and have commented on the weekly grades in some cases. This is how I'm going to be grading work from now on - so make sure you're getting at least three good posts per week. Trust me when I tell you that they will pay great dividends in the future. You're building your own learning diary and reference tool.
Some of you are still not putting screen captures of your in-progress work on your journals - I've created a video that shows how to do this and it's posted below this post. This week we're going to start a major project - a self portrait in Adobe Illustrator. If you haven't completed the Illustrator Exercises from last week you need to complete those before trying to start the self-portrait project. We're also going to begin taking group portraits in all of the shops this Tuesday. If you haven't been making required posts to your journal you will not be eligible to go out on these photo shoots. I've found a great tool to help you understand the manual settings of our cameras and I'd like you to try this simulator out: Some of you are still not adding images to your journals and they're important so that I can see you're making progress and they'll help remind you of how you approached a given problem. Below is a video that shows how to go about adding these to your weebly blog page.
