Virtual Field Trip Scavenger HuntIf you're anything like me, after four days of social distancing I'm ready to explore the world beyond my front doorstep. We use Google every day in our lab for finding images and doing project work. But there's other parts of Google that are crazy fun and a great way to get past our own front yards.
This website article from Travel & Leisure features 12 world-famous art museums that you can explore via a number of very interesting ways - you can zoom into paintings and look at them in incredible close up detail. You can walk the halls of a number of galleries in Google street-view. Here's your task - explore https://artsandculture.google.com/ and return with a URL of awesomeness. I want you to post the link and your reason why you think you've found awesome in the comments section below. Don't be afraid to venture away from the museums - there's lots to explore and now's a great time to do some exploring! By the way, I miss you all! Critique - How to help others grow their skills
For this exercise you're asked to view the video below and offer your thoughts at the three points in the video where you are prompted. This player is called a PlayPosit and it allows us to virtually discuss a video.
Welcome to online Commercial Art & Graphics! I wasn't able to see all of you before we closed for this two week break in live classes. Try to use your IU students email account for any correspondence you send to me. That is how I will be contacting you through this period.
About this Photographer…
We'll be using this for weekly assignments and offset learning activities that we can do while we're out of our lab. This week, I'd like you to create a shared research slide show using Google Slides. I'm asking you to choose one of the photographers on this list.
These photographers all have made an impact on the art of photography. Below is a sample of what I'd like to see you put together. When you're finished, post the link to your slide show in the comments below this posting. Immediately below is a sample using the American photographer, Eve Arnold, as a research subject. To take it a little bit further, try to capture a few images with your cell phone or camera in the style of the photographer you have chosen and add it to your slide show.
STUDENT Slideshows
The last pure drawing project we'll be working on in this section is perspective drawing. If you had an art class in junior high or elementary school, you probably did some form of this drawing style. The videos below will show you four examples of perspective drawing. Your finished project can be either a landscape or an abstract drawing. I'd like to see you add shading to this project when the basic drawing is complete. Drawing Projects: Restaurant Menu Project Our first project for the second semester will be a menu for a restaurant. You get to name and create a branding logo for your restaurant. The skills we will be focusing on during this project are as follows:

Task List Items
Welcome to the 2nd Quarter - it's a new beginning, but we'll be building on what you've learned so far. Over the next four to five weeks we are going to be working more with designing with type. We are going to be creating a number of projects that will help you understand how important great design needs great control of type. It's another weapon a designer has to create a message. We will be doing a series of small projects that will be asking you begin incorporating well-designed type in them. We will be using Illustrator, Photoshop and begin working in Adobe InDesign. These projects will include:
Summer European Tour Opportunity Size Specs for Wall Calendar and Desk Calendar
