I reviewed portfolios over the weekend and I'd like to share some of the amazing work that a few of you have on your portfolios. We'll be reviewing portfolios throughout the week. I appreciate everyone's effort while I was out sick. There were some wonderfully creative solutions to the challenges that I posted. We still have a number of images that we need to capture this week for the yearbook. I will need both AM and PM classes to help out in taking the remaining missing images. On Wednesday we will be hosting every 5th grader in the Great Valley School District. I expect that you all will be good hosts and share your enthusiasm for this program with our visitors. I'd like to offer a couple of activities for our guests: photoshop animation, photoshop cloning project, scratch drawing and portfolio sharing. If you can think of any project we've done that would make a 5th grader go wow - let me know! This is how we keep our program alive and I appreciate your help! We will be doing NOCTI review for the hands-on portion of the test this week. This works well with our yearbook efforts as both the test and our yearbook require the same working path. I wish that I felt better and I don't want you all to get this. It's nasty. For today I want you to work on something tropical - think warm! Here are the suggested projects:
Beginner (1st year students) - Create a beautiful flip flop icon in Adobe Illustrator Intermediate/Advanced - Create a colorful tropical parrot using gradients in Adobe Illustrator You can download the basic sketch by clicking here. Please post your finished work to your journal as it will be a graded project. If you're not finished yesterday's work, or if you don't complete today's - make a post that displays how far along you are. Have a good weekend - I hope to be back on Monday morning. If you have questions you can leave them in the comments below - I will monitor this page hourly. I'm feeling under the weather today and wanted you to have some choices for today's assignment. I expect everyone to make an attempt and post a finished piece to your journal at the end of class today!
So here are some recommendations based on your skill levels:
If you complete the recommended assignment above and you wish to watch the next episode of the Street Art Throwdown.
Post comments below on key points if you decide to watch this. Develop one good question about the episode you watched. For example, In Episode 2 what was the main problem with Agana's poster design? Post your questions on this entry. Objectives for this week:
NOCTI Review: Kahoot Tuesday & Thursday! Media for this Week: Theory for This Week:
One area that we are going to be stressing this week is the concept of creating page layouts that will print and transfer well. This means using Preflight Profiles in InDesign. Download this preflight document and we'll be discussing how this profile can help us avoid pitfalls in getting our book to the publisher and saving time and money by avoiding mistakes. Our Workflow - for creating pages must be consistent and mirrors what is done in industry. Here are the basic steps:
Here is a video that demonstrates this process - review this when necessary! |
