Watch the video below up to 13:40. You will be creating your own name or nickname using the technique shown in the video. Make sure you're okay with your pencil lines before using a Sharpee to finish the outlines. Use very light pressure when working with the pencil. Feel free to use any theme you can think of for the flourishes. This doesn't need to be an exact duplicate of what the artist is demonstrating. Be as creative as you can with this - work out your ideas before committing to a final design!
After you've erased all of the pencil lines you will be scanning the black and white piece and emailing the scan to yourself. Scan the artwork at 400 ppi resolution as a full color file and save as a jpg. You have an email address through our Google for Students program. Your email address will be firstname.lastname@example.org. The keyboard on the copier pulls out and you can input your address in the "to" prompt. We will be using this artwork in Photoshop at the end of the week. Check your email account to make sure that the file arrived in your inbox!
Finish watching the video to get ideas for adding color. You can use a combination of color pencil, markers, or pastels to complete your work. Add as many color details (shadows and highlights) as you need. When you are finished scan the completed piece at 300 ppi, full color, jpg. We'll be using this scan to post the finished analog piece to your journal.
