Creative Careers Google+ Hangout - #1 Rob Cori

This Tuesday is our first Creative Careers Artist Virtual Visit. Rob Cori is a graphic artist who works in the Washington, DC/Metro area. He grew up just outside of the Philadelphia region and is a huge Eagles, Phillies and Flyers fan. Cori's ties to this area makes him a perfect person to answer questions you might have about creative careers and the process of creative design he uses. We'll be using a Google+ hangout for this visit. If you're on Google+ and want to connect directly, my Google+ identity can be accessed here. Add me to your circle and I'll invite you to the hangout. It would be great if we can have everyone partner up with a Google+ participant for the event on Tuesday morning. Monitor your Google+ account Tuesday morning for the hangout invitation. Even if you're not "on" Google+ get your questions ready for our guest and we'll be broadcasting in our lab. We'll be using the twitter hashtag #robcori - you can post your questions to Rob on Twitter if you're not crazy about asking them aloud.

The session will be recorded and available on YouTube for anyone that misses the live event.

A few new ideas for 2013-14…

Art Ideas: On Thursdays, an idea box with almost 200 different creative ideas will be placed on the art tables. Pick a topic (you get one tradeback per week) and create the artwork in any media you choose (digital or analog.) Try to work on a weakness at least 50% of the time. You need to make your choice on Thursday and bring in any props or visuals you might need for your drawing session on Fridays. I’d prefer if you didn’t repeat any past idea if possible – unless you have an awesome way to revisit the idea!

Virtual Visiting Artists Series: At least once a month we’ll be either be using either Skype or Google+ Hangout to speak with a working artist. In October, Rob Cori twitter: @COPSnROBers has offered to visit us virtually. We’ll have graphic designers, photographers, web developers, illustrators and multi-media creators visiting us. You are going to have to study their work and generate good questions for them.

I have been corresponding with quite a few artists over the past few weeks. Not all of these are confirmed yet, but here is a list of the folks I'm trying to schedule for this year.

These will be recorded and posted to our class site. If you follow an artist on Twitter that you’d like me to approach – send me a tweet (@tchsart) with the artists’ Twitter name and I’ll work on getting them to virtually visit us.
