This week we will begin taking Senior Portrait images in our lab. These sessions usually take a little bit longer than regular portraits as we try to be creative partners with our subjects in getting really memorable photos for this year's graduating class. We will be taking a formal image, cap and gown image, diploma image with cap and gown, tight face crop landscape image and any other image the senior wants. In the end we should end up with 5 to 9 images for retouching.
We are done taking most of the standard portraits that will be used for ID cards and underclass portraits for the yearbook. This week we'll be learning how to touch up these images by removing blemishes and brightening teeth and eyes. You will each begin by touching up your own photo. Since these could be used in a publication, it's important that we all use the same technique for accomplishing these tasks - it will make it look like one person did all of this editing.
The following link is a more advanced method, but it might be something second or third year students wish to read: https://fstoppers.com/bts/complete-guide-retouching-portraits-photoshop-free-98236
We'll also be doing some light painting experimentation with our Pixelstick. The key element to creating Pixelstick images in Photoshop is that they need to be 200 pixels high and saved as bitmapped images ((BMP). Watch the video below to get an idea of how wide to make the image you wish to create. These images can be combined in photoshop, so think of things you might want to put together. Also check out the Pixelstick website for premade images.
