For the last major project of the year I'm going to ask you to use an online tool to create an animation, slideshow or edit a movie that answers one of the header questions. You can use a simple story format, a slideshow format, a commercial format - any way you feel like and still answer the chosen question. Here are some suggestions as to what tool you can use for this project:
Animoto - if you use this code a4etuck6aa164 you will be able to use this site in an unlimited manner for up to six months. You will need to create a new user account in order to do this. Stykz - is a stick figure animating program that will allow you to create stick figure animations for free. You will need to download the program in order to use this tool. Prezi - this is an interesting alternative to PowerPoint - you can imbed video, music, photos and move them around in an interesting way. ToonDoo - you could use multiple panel-strips to answer your questions. GoAnimate - this combines cartooning with slideshow techniques - you can add music, record soundtracks - interesting tool you might consider. Xtranormal - another web-based movie maker. This is one of the slickest of all of these but the render time is a bit longer with the increased quality. In honor of the rapture, I thought it might be nice to create a beverage commemorating this auspicious occasion. Here are the links we will be using: 3D Soda Can in Photoshop
These videos will help us with the Wacom Tablet project we'll be working with over the next week. I will be out today as I'm suffering from allergy-related vertigo and cannot drive. I will call in for questions during the first thirty minutes of both classes. Your assignment today is to read Austin Kleon's blog post HOW TO STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST (AND 9 OTHER THINGS NOBODY TOLD ME and answer the following questions as comments on this page:
This week we’re going to be working with Illustrator’s Pathfinder tool to create two types of logos. The first type of logo we’ll be working with is typographic. In addition, we’ll be creating an abstract logo using the same tools. The design project this week will be to create a logo for a musical group. This project allows you to redo the logo of an existing or historical musical act or if you’re feeling daring you can use this site called band namemaker. You will be required to create three different logos for the name of the band you choose. Two will be typographic and one will also have an abstract shape in addition to the name of the band. Be ready to explain the reasoning behind your logo. Seniors: your senior projects should be complete by mid-week. You will all be required to present your project to the class on Monday, May 8th during the PM class. Make sure that your ePortfolio is totally updated and that all components are present. Juniors: You should be finishing your ePortfolio entries for the job shadow you have done. Make sure that you have visual evidence, answers to the interview questions and a reflection of the experience. I need a student who is willing to shoot table and group shots at the prom this coming Friday. If you’re not already going to the prom and you’d like to volunteer – please let me know by Tuesday afternoon. Sophomores & Freshmen: There are a number of projects we’ll be working on in terms of production work this week.: Allied Health t-shirts, Senior Awards Breakfast Programs, Theater Programs for Jake Brams show.
