By using the Blob Brush and the eraser tool, coupled with a Wacom Tablet - this video shows a great method for transforming your drawings into vector artwork: If you need assistance with your initial drawing techniques, Drawspace is a great primer site on how to draw common items. Here is the link Today is the final day to complete your Flash movies for movie day. I'd like to have a Graphic Arts Movie Day tomorrow in both classes. I'll supply the popcorn. All you need to do is upload your SWF or MOV file below and we'll launch the movies from this site. Be aware that there is an AM and a PM Upload area - make sure you put your film into the correct time slot. AM Movie Day Assignment Upload here!Thank you, your assignment has been sent PM Movie Day Assignment Upload Here!Thank you, your assignment has been sent We have been working on Flash Basics for about a week now. So far we have covered basic Motion Tweening, Shape Tweening, Pose Tweening with the Bones Tool. If you're unsure about how to create any of these basic skills below is a FLA file that show the basic look of all these skills. The next step to this is going to be the creation of a major project (approximately two to three minutes long) The project take any form that you wish to work in - some samples include a movie trailer, an advertising parody, a music video or just a simple visual statement that describes who you are and what your favorite things are (music, movies, food, hobbies, etc.) The video needs to include a sound track (music, vocals or just background sound effects. We will be developing this project by using a technique called Storyboarding. Storyboarding is how any film, video or animation project is planned. If you wish to include a video clip from YouTube in your animation - here is a Firefox plugin that will allow you to save YouTube videos as FLV files: http://netvideohunter.com/pages/home/ref:ext ![]()
I just watched this wonderful TED video by author Elizabeth Gilbert - she explores how society looks at creativity and being a genius. One more day and I will be back with you all. I'm having some medical tests today - but I'm not expecting any major problems. I will be there on Tuesday morning. Between snow and the conference I went to last week - I haven't seen all of you in over a week.
The snow has really messed up our schedule and it has been difficult to maintain any continuity with our work. We are way behind in our yearbook work and we need to begin planning for the possibility of more snow days. One event that normally takes place during Tech-Ed week is Hippie Day. That was going to be a major photo-op day for this year's yearbook and couldn't take place because of weather interruptions. Here is my plan - we are going to host our own Hippie Day. On this day we'll give out one free 2010 Shield yearbook to the person (in each lunch) who dresses as hipped out as possible. We'll run a contest during both first and second lunches. Second prize will be $10 Wawa gift cards. Today's assignment requires you to create an 11 x 17 poster to advertise the event. Here are the details:
Below is the path: Today's project asks you to build a Netvibes page. Here is a sample of my public Netvibes page. My public page includes those things that I'm passionate about: Graphic Arts, Education, Career Planning and helping other teachers use technology. Netvibes takes the web and ties it together into themes. Basically, my Netvibes page is my start or home page on my computers.
Some of the content on my Netvibes page comes directly from Netvibes widgets. Other content is material that I Stumbled Upon or had shared with me by colleagues via Twitter. Your netvibes page should include a few class-related tabs - Graphic Arts, Communication, Photography and New Web Technologies. It should also include your other passions - animation, sports, movies, music - whatever your passionate about. Here is a tour of Netvibes. Follow the tour by clicking the next button. It will explain Netvibes pages in detail. You can add actual YouTube videos, web radio stations, picture slideshows- whatever. At the end of the tour you will be able to set up a free account and begin building your pages. You'll need to set up an account on Netvibes to be able to build your own personal and public pages. Make sure you use an accurate e-mail address when first signing up because you'll need to respond to a verification email in order for the site to work. if you're working on a senior project, your Netvibes page could be a great way to organize information and research on your presentation. Be creative - make me proud. First year students can work on the AM Class Assignement. Advanced students are expected to create a self-portrait with text using this tutorial website:
http://tinyurl.com/ydr95pl For the text portion of this portrait I would like you to Google-search song lyrics or a poem that is important to you. This is going to require a bit of copy/pasting into separate PS text layers and a lot of creativity on your part. When the assignment is complete save the file as a jpg and post to your class notebook site. Today I'm going to ask the AM and PM class to do different assignments. The AM class is expected to work on this InDesign Tutorial:
http://tinyurl.com/yesdxo5 While you're working on this basic tutorial remember that you can create a filled text frame by choosing the following path from the menu pictured below. You can use the pen tool to create your balloon shaped object. When you are finished the assignment, post an exported jp Today I would like both classes to finish and print their 3-dimensional graphic designs. All designs should incorporate both graphics and text into their design. Those students who need assistance with printing can get help from the following students:
AM Class - Nikki Taylor PM Class - Mike Morgan Please print, cut and tape/glue 2 copies of your finished designs. One copy is yours to keep, and the other will be graded Thursday upon my return. If you have questions, They can be submitted directly below or sent via email to [email protected]: My students are what some members of society call "Digital Natives." My students have grown up with game controllers in their hands and computers in their classrooms and living rooms and/or bedrooms. They communicate via text faster than most of us "non-natives" can type on a traditional keyboard. They are multi-taskers able to study, investigate new music and entertainment trends and communicate using various tools simultaneously. I learn from them every day.
Here is what they don't do so well - they often lack the ability to use technology to make themselves better students. They lack a strong understanding of how to save themselves time by managing their digital lives in a more organized manner. Many students don't understand the basic concepts of bookmarking and search methodology that make up so much of how to use computers and the web as sophisticated research tools. Organizing files on their computers is often not a strong point. They often can use digital tools - but fail to manage or control how those tools work. My students come by their ignorance and lack of skill honestly - none of them have ever been taught HOW to use tools they use socially for professional or academic excellence. We adults often assume that the "digital natives" understand boolean searches and file organization as a natural part of being born into "generation digital." When students get training and exposure and possess a good understanding of how these tools can affect their grades, they run with them and far exceed their teachers. We're going to work on these skills over the next few weeks.
